Gus Hahn-Powell

Assistant Professor, Linguistics, University of Arizona. Professor Hahn-Powell directs the online HLT MS program, as well as the Graduate Certificate in Natural Language Processing, and holds an appointment in the Cognitive Science Program. He is a core contributor to numerous information extraction and knowledge assembly systems which hybridize linguistic rules and statistical methods. His research interests center around machine reading for scientific discovery and in building systems to scour the literature, analyze findings, and synthesize discoveries to generate novel hypotheses. Sandiway Fong

Associate Professor, Department of Linguistics, University of Arizona. Professor Fong directs the in-person HLT MS program, and holds appointments in the Cognitive Science Program. His recent research focuses on a computer implementation of a theory within the Minimalist Program.

Mike Hammond

Professor, Department of Linguistics, University of Arizona. Professor Hammond holds appointments in the Cognitive Science Program and the Second Language Acquisition and Teaching Program. His research is in the areas of phonology, psycholinguistics, computational linguistics, Welsh, Scottish Gaelic, and poetic meter.

Eric Jackson

Assistant Professor of Practice, Linguistics, University of Arizona. Professor Jackson teaches in the online HLT MS program. His background includes community-oriented efforts to overcome the lack of data for low-resource language communities and help them develop the kinds of NLP tools that they would like to have.
